
Pattern 1006 Spode bone china Bute shape Coffee Can introduced c1806. It is all hand-painted again. Red was THE fashionable colour at this time & although pattern 1005 looked fabulous obviously customers wanted it in red, so here it is. I don't think it has the same impact but then I am used to a small warm home with electric led lighting rather than a large draughty house, warmed by open fires & lit by candle power.

A solidly gilt & kinked handle

Red couldn't be fired at such high temperatures as cobalt blue enamel so it is more prone to scratch damage

The gilding on the top rim is showing a little wear but never mind

I can see a tiny, sneaky spot of kiln grit at the inner base of the handle

No pattern number or decorator's mark on this one yet
