Pattern 1201 Spode bone china Bute shape Coffee Can decorated in peach enamel & various gilt sprigs & border designs introduced c1808. This softer enamel colour marks a change in direction towards more sophisticated & subtle colours. Instead of Spode's decorators showing off their painting skills this pattern, & ones like this, allowed Spode's gilders to showcase their skills.

The usual Spode kinked handle & gilding pattern. Some wear to the gilding at the base rim probably the owner's little finger rubbed this as they held the can handle.

Several Spode patterns were produced using this same gilt border pattern of discs & foliage together with different coloured enamels

I'm afraid you are showing a little age my dear

Clean inside

Reasonably clean on its base but no manufacturer's marks on this one
