Pattern 1404 Spode bone china Bute shape Coffee Can decorated in another pastel peach coloured enamel with various gilt border designs.  This is very similar to Spode's patterns 1038 & 1042.  This pattern was introduced c1809.
The usual Spode gilding pattern on the kinked handle.  This is another design to show off Spode's pure white bone china porcelain & Henry Daniel's gilders skills.
Some wear to the gilding has occurred, as its owner must have enjoyed using this pretty little coffee can.  By the way, I have not mentioned it previously but most of these cans measured 6.5 cms tall by 6.5 cms wide although smaller (toy) & larger (breakfast) ones were also available to purchase.
Reasonably clean inside
The pattern number '1404' is marked to the base in iron-red enamel.  The number four was sometimes written in a way which could potentially make this pattern appear to read as 7071. However, it is worth remembering that Spode decorators always wrote their pattern numbers with the base towards the centre of the object rather than towards the outer rim.
