Pattern 1494 Spode bone china Bute shape Tea Cup & Saucer decorated in an extremely ornate Imari design which covers every inch of the piece. This pattern was introduced c1809 and was probably a direct copy of a Chinese/Japanese Imari original. All hand-painted to most of its exterior & part of its interior as well together with loads of rich gilt work this was another elaborate & labour intensive design for Spode's wealthiest customers only.

I believe all these flowers are Peonies. They have been cultivated for hundreds of years & they are the national flower of China. The flower symbolises beauty, honor, wealth, riches & romantic love so what more could anyone ask for?

Herons I presume, flying across the centre of this saucer

The saucer has a 'dirty bottom', kiln dust picked up whilst firing, but it does have its pattern number '1494' written in iron red enamel on its base. The cup is not marked.
A Tea Service in this pattern would have looked stunning and one was sold by Leland Little, Hillsborough NC, USA on 17th June 2016 for $2400, see it here:
