Pattern 1513 Spode bone china Bute shape Coffee Can black printed with fruits & decorated with band & line gilding. This pattern was introduced c1810 & was obviously popular because it was produced again as pattern 1515 with a blue & gilt band & once more as pattern 1516 (illustrated) with the fruits printed in 'French Brown' enamel together with band & line gilding.

You can see the usual specks of kiln dust which regularly appear on early Spode bone china porcelain.

This Spode Coffee Can looks like new & has probably spent most of its life on display rather than 'working' for its living. It's very hard to believe it is 200+ years old.

The warm glint of gold in candlelight is still as comforting now as it was then.

Almost spotless inside which was a major achievement in 1810.

No formal identification marks to the base of this Spode Coffee Can but its quality tells us who the maker was.
