Pattern 1793 Spode bone china Card Tray with handle.  It is lavishly decorated with two beautifully hand-painted reserves of English blooms & two reserves of wild birds interspersed with panels of soft apple green enamel together with rich gilding.  This charming pattern was introduced c1811-12.
It is very noticeable that following Josiah Spode II's appointment as Potter & English Porcelain manufacturer to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales in 1806 how his designs were becoming more sophisticated.
This Spode Card Tray is marked to its base with its pattern number '1793' in gilt & you can see how the base has a combed effect.
