Pattern 2234 Spode bone china New Oval shaped Sugar Box decorated with a band of mid blue enamel with a scrolling gilt edge together with sprays of English flowers. This design was introduced c1814. It is a very pretty pattern & would have looked lovely when used as a complete Tea Service.
This blue enamel is a very difficult colour to capture correctly & it can appear quite different in varying lighting conditions.

You can see the usual Spode gilding pattern down the handle.

You can also see where the decorator blobbed some of the blue enamel on the inside of the handle by accident.

The usual specks of kiln dust inside

The base of this Spode Sugar Box is clearly marked with 'SPODE' & its pattern number '2234' in red enamel.
