Pattern 2777 Spode bone china Creamer in the shape which does not appear to have a name in the Spode records & I have decided to call it Silver shape.  It is also referred to as being the Oblong shape by some collectors.  This ornate pattern was introduced at Spode c1818; the shape appears c1814 & my pattern 2149 illustrates a Teapot Stand in this shape.
This new Silver shape Spode Creamer still incorporates the usual Spode handle gilding pattern which was Josiah Spode II's instantly recognisable mark of quality.
Fashion is moving towards Classical, formal, floral & fancy - not my cup of tea, but it displays well regardless.
Pretty hand-painted flowers & swirling gilt work
Almost spot free
This Spode Silver shape Creamer is marked to its base with 'SPODE' & its pattern number '2777' in red enamel together with an old collector's label for the Andrews Collection.
This little beauty is Spode's pattern 2777 bone china London shape Tea Cup & Saucer from c1818.  Although rather 'fussy & fancy' for my taste, it is all hand-painted & in lovely condition.
My preference is for Spode's more simplistic & patriotic English Georgian designs, their copies or interpretations of Chinese 18th century designs or their fully robust & blingy designs copied or inspired by Japanese Imari.
I know it's only c1818 but it feels like the Victorian era is creeping up far too quickly.
Almost clear inside with just one speck.
Both pieces are fully marked with 'SPODE' & their pattern number '2777' in red enamel together with another Andrews Collection old collector's label.
Pattern 2777 Spode bone china Large Saucer Dish c1818.  An early 19th century  Spode Tea/Coffee Service would generally come with two of these large saucer dishes; one measured approximately 8.5 inches or 21.5 cms in diameter (like this one) & the other was slightly smaller at approximately 7.25 inches or 18.5 cms in diameter (exact dimensions vary).  They were intended for the hostess to offer her guests bread & butter or if you were extremely fortunate, cake.
They are also known as Bread & Butter Plates even though they are not plate-like.
