Pattern 426 Spode bone china Toy bucket shape Milk, this is another variation on 'French Sprig' design and the influence would have come to the UK from France. It uses the little red & blue flower motif which was standard to this design together with lots of green leaf foliage & larger orangey red blooms and yellow buds; plus gilt of course.
This is a miniature jug produced as a cabinet/talking piece/play-thing for adults which only measures just over 2 inches in height. The design was first introduced c1802 by Josiah Spode II and was re-introduced by him as pattern 605 c1804 a couple of years later but on the second time around it had a black enamel border instead of a gilt edge and is mainly seen on creamware rather than bone china porcelain.

A pretty & extravagant piece of nonsense!
