Pattern 499 Spode bone china Bute shape Coffee Can.  This interesting design had first been introduced by Josiah Spode II as pattern 483 c1803 and this was quickly followed with this version in the same year.  I'm not sure where the influence for the design originated from.
Spode's signature kinked & gilt handle
This pattern must have proved to be very popular because it was produced in approximately nine different variations using black, iron red, blue & pink enamels.
A similar design can be seen on Spode's pattern numbers 483, 670, 685 (illustrated), 689, 707, 708, 713 and 964.
Clean inside & only a little wear to the gilding around the top rim
No pattern number, manufacture's name or decorator's mark but there is an old collector's label.  This is another piece from the Andrews Collection of early Spode ceramics.
