Pattern 624 Spode bone china Bute shape Tea Cup & Saucer. This design reminds me of violets which were very popular native flowers due to their scent. The decorator has started with an undulating line in charcoal and from this the flowing stems, green leaves & violet flowers meander in a wide & decorative border. It is further enriched with band & line gilding. This pattern was introduced c1804 by Josiah Spode II.
A little wear to the gilding band but otherwise it is a lovely cup
Spode II's signature handle
Clean inside apart from the odd spot & there is always an odd spot!
I can see a speck of kiln dust just below the base of the cup handle & no pattern numbers or decorator's marks which is quite usual for this period
