Pattern 658 Spode bone china Bute shape Coffee Can introduced by Josiah Spode II c1804. The design looks English and is composed of a hand-painted top border of apple green enamel 'strawberries' & leaves on an undulating gilt stem together with further bands & line gilding.

Josiah Spode II's signature handle & gilding pattern down its length

This fresh and pleasing pattern was obviously popular with their customers and Spode had previously produced it in a blue version as his pattern number 632 earlier the same year.

This little Spode Coffee Can looks to be in very good condition considering it is over 200 years old

The usual one or two specks of kiln dust & cobalt blue enamel inside

No pattern number or decorator's mark on its base but it does have an old collector's label which I like to keep because it is nice to know who has previously owned an object. The Andrews were very keen collectors of Spode ceramics for over 30 years.
