Pattern 984 Spode bone china Bute shape Coffee Can design introduced c1806. This is another iron-red 'Pluck & Dust' printed design known as P521 'Rose Border' together with luscious gilding.
This Rose Border was also used on a Spode dessert service with images of birds taken from the first edition of James Bolton's 'Harmonia Ruralis or An Essay towards a Natural History of British Song Birds' published in two volumes in 1794 & 1796.
What a little beauty - the transfer print has gone across the top inside part of the handle but I have seen this before with other examples so perhaps this was standard.
What a delightful piece of English porcelain
Spode's porcelain production is being improved and blemishes are not so frequent
It is very feint, but this has pattern '984' and possibly a decorator's mark as well
